Data Infrastructure Expertise Centre
Empowering Data-Driven Health Research
Successful health research & innovation projects depend on seamless, secure, and well-governed data access across project partners. Our Data Infrastructure Expertise Centre helps design, implement, and manage data-driven solutions and governance frameworks to realize the project goals of your multi-partner research consortium in close collaboration with the scientific leadership. Beyond project completion, we also support your project to determine fit-for-purpose models for the data infrastructure to support project sustainability. Our expertise in data governance and data management ensures that sensitive health data is handled responsibly, making it accessible for research while adhering to the highest standards of privacy and security.
Our Approach:
Translating your project goals into Data Requirements
- Conduct a detailed analysis of your project’s data needs based on scientific objectives.
- Translate your data needs into projected data flows between the key project partners.
- Drive consensus among key stakeholders on these data flows.
- Document outcomes (in a Data Management Plan (DMP)) also considering the FAIR data principles.
Translating your project goals into a Data Governance & Data Sharing strategy
- Define clear responsibilities for stakeholders involved in the data flows.
- Lead risk assessments on the data workflows.
- Develop a legally and ethically sound data governance for the project.
- Ensure patient perspectives are integrated into decision-making.
Implementing Data Requirements
- Coordinate the selection of IT technologies to support the data requirements and workflows described in the DMP.
- Provide project management for data infrastructure implementation and execution.
- Ensure consistent implementation of the project’s data requirements across solutions developed by individual partners.
- Act as a liaison between researchers and IT experts to guarantee solutions are fit for purpose and incorporate user feedback.
Managing Data Governance Processes & Agreements
- Oversee the translation of scientific, legal, and ethical requirements into legal agreements.
- Balance stakeholder interests while applying best practices.
- Keep the project up to date with new legislation such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the AI-Act.
- Manage risk analyses and data protection impact assessment (DPIA), coordinate data security strategies, and implement quality schemes to ensure application of the necessary organizational and technical compliance measures.
Developing a Data & Infrastructure Sustainability strategy for your project
- Contribute to the development of the project’s sustainability strategy.
- Identify important data assets to sustain beyond project completion.
- Assess future cost structures, data management risks, and key stakeholders responsible for sustaining the project’s data and infrastructure needs.
- Identify and facilitate potential strategic partnerships to support sustainability needs.
- Coordinate the development of funding strategies for the continued availability of essential data infrastructure.
- Plan and coordinate the controlled wind-down of data elements not selected for long-term use.
