Finding solutions for unmet medical needs by securing partners, acquiring funding, and sharing risks and resources

New therapeutic and diagnostic solutions are key components for improving health and wellbeing in the global setting, including low- and middle-income countries. Despite the scarcity of resources, this can be achieved under the right conditions, when the associated risks and costs are successfully addressed. The societal need for new treatments is clear, even when the economic case for pursuing and launching the necessary drugs might initially seem tenuous.

 A vicious circle is often associated with diseases predominantly occurring in low- and middle-income countries. Poor health severely hampers local development, reducing purchasing power further, and making the prospects of financial return on investment limited.

The answer lies in building partnerships that are able to offer a solution to both funding issues and gaps in expertise. This is where Lygature can make a real difference. We excel in bringing organizations together to develop pharmaceutical tools that alleviate the disease burden in vulnerable populations. We help to pool resources, secure funding, share costs, and mitigate risks so that new treatments of important medical need and high societal impact can be realized.

An international public-private collaboration working together to accelerate the development of new Tuberculosis (TB) drug regimens.
Goal: To set a new standard for anti-TB regimen development. The project will upgrade current clinical trial methodology and enhance the efficiency with which new regimens are delivered.

An international public-private partnership, launched in 2012.
Goal: To develop and provide an appropriate treatment option for preschool-age children with schistosomiasis.

A European collaboration aimed at delivering Gram-negative antibacterials with new modes of action to the clinical phase.
Goal: To operate a consortium of experts, representing all the critical skills and experience required to progress treatments for severe diarrhoea, targeting four enteric pathogens: Shigella, Campylobacter, E. coli, and Salmonella.

Knowledge Integration for TB Treatment Development (KITT)

KITT is a global forum aimed at accelerating tuberculosis (TB) drug and regimen development through innovative collaboration, data sharing, and the coordination of research efforts.  The Knowledge Integration for Tuberculosis Therapeutics (KITT) project, is a pioneering initiative designed to foster a collaborative environment where global TB research stakeholders can unite their efforts towards a common goal. >More

AI4NTD (Completed)

A consortium of nine partners spread over Europe and Africa, working to develop an automated tool for the diagnosis and surveillance of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), including soil-transmitted helminthiasis and schistosomiasis
Goal: To develop an innovative and integrated AI-driven digital pathology platform that is affordable, accessible, and scalable for low-resource settings in order to contribute to the achievement of global control and elimination targets for NTDs.

Medicines for Malaria Venture - Product Development Partnership (MMV-PDP) (Completed)

An international drug discovery project in partnership with Medicines for Malaria Venture.
Goal: To find novel ways to block malaria transmission and prevent relapse.

A Japanese-Dutch partnership studying Schistosoma antigens with diagnostic potential.
Goal: To develop a fast, simple, antibody test for diagnosing schistosomiasis in patient blood or urine.

Phosphodiesterase Inhibitors for Neglected Parasitic Diseases (Completed)

A consortium with the goal of developing novel treatments for neglected parasitic diseases (NPDs), with a specific focus on sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and schistosomiasis. 
Goal: to produce three drug candidates in different phases of development: one Phase II ready one Phase I ready and one preclinical candidate.
