Annual PDP Meeting highlights the importance of access to medicine

During the meeting, different organizations - including Lygature - spoke about their vision and investments in this area. They discussed how access to medicine could be improved by developing new therapeutic solutions, and also addressed the steps they took to make these medicines available as well. During the meeting, several examples were discussed, including the MMV-PDP consortium, which aims to develop novel treatments to prevent relapse and block the transmission of Malaria. This consortium receives financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is managed by Lygature.

In the afternoon, Jan Raaijmakers from Health~Holland highlighted the benefits of working with Dutch partners in the Life Sciences & Health sector. He discussed some successful initiatives including the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium, a consortium developing a new praziquantel formulation suitable for very young children with schistosomiasis.

In a concluding panel discussion, Lygature’s Managing Director Jorg Janssen highlighted examples of other partnership models that could serve as a source for inspiration for new ways to fight neglected tropical diseases in innovative public-private partnerships, such as the European Lead Factory and Structural Genomics Consortium.

During the meeting, expertise between the various organizations was exchanged and seeds were planted for cooperation in the future. Lygature is proud to play a significant role in improving access to medicine worldwide.
