Lygature announces its partner role in the IDERHA-consortium

News News

The newly formed IDERHA consortium addresses the obstacles in accessing, integrating and analysing health data to maximize their value for patient care and research. Lygature is proud to be one of 33 partners in IDERHA, being involved in program management, and co-leading the ethical and legal framework for data sharing, and co-leading communication, exploitation, and dissemination.

“Lygature is proud to be involved in IDERHA as a partner from its first conception”, says Herman Verheij, Senior Program Manager at Lygature. “It perfectly aligns with our organization’s goals to make a difference in the lives of patients through health care innovation, both from a technological point of view as well as by enhancing regulatory and HTA decision-making.”

IDERHA (Integration of heterogenous Data and Evidence towards Regulatory & HTA Acceptance) aims to propel health care innovation in Europe by addressing the key obstacles to achieve appropriate access, sharing, use and reuse of digital healthcare data. It will develop one of the first pan-European health data spaces, and through policy recommendations drive health data access and the acceptability of heterogeneous health research results for regulatory and Health Technology Assessment decision-making.

Focusing on lung cancer, which is responsible for 20% of cancer-related deaths in Europe and one of the key priorities of Europe Beating Cancer, IDERHA will link and analyse diverse data stemming along the continuum of a lung cancer patient’s journey. From early screening of citizens at risk to develop lung cancer, to remote monitoring of late-stage patients to enable better care in an at-home setting. Ultimately, the platform and policy recommendations will be disease independent.

One of the first IHI projects

“With our involvement in 17 projects in the Innovative Medicines Initiative, Lygature is very happy to continue this success in the Innovative Health Initiative,” says Jorg Janssen, Managing Director of Lygature. IDERHA is one of the first research projects funded through this Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), a public-private partnership (PPP) between the European Union and the European life science industries that supports transformative research and innovation. “IDERHA is an exciting project that really exemplifies what the Innovative Health Initiative is about,” says Dr. Hugh Laverty, IHI Executive Director ad interim. “A true cross-sectoral, public-private partnership, it brings together experts from diverse fields like health data, imaging and oncology to improve the lives of people with lung cancer.”

Consortium of 29 partners and 4 associated partners

The initiative will be led by the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP and Johnson & Johnson Medical GmbH, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, in a consortium of 33 academic, clinical, medtech, pharmaceutical, IT and patient advocacy organizations as well as public authorities. Lygature’s program managers and communication managers will be involved in the overarching program management, are co-lead for the ethical and legal framework for data sharing, and are co-lead for communication, exploitation, and dissemination.

The projects officially started on 1 April and will end 31 March 2028.
