At the FIGON Dutch Medicines Days (October 3 - 4, 2016, Ede, The Netherlands), Lygature Board Member Prof Dr Jan Raaijmakers was awarded a royal decoration by being appointed Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau.

He received the decoration for his strenuous and ongoing efforts to advance the Dutch Life Sciences & Health sector. Over the years, Prof Raaijmakers has played a very important role in connecting the various stakeholders in our sector, especially in areas where it is challenging to find common ground, such as regulatory innovation.

From 2009 onwards, Prof Raaijmakers was a Board Member of TI Pharma, serving as Chair of the TI Pharma Board prior to the organization merging with the Center for Translational Molecular Medicine (CTMM) to create Lygature.  At the time of the merger, he became Vice-Chair of the Lygature Board. As a figurehead for the Dutch top sector Life Sciences & Health, Prof Raaijmakers continues to be an essential force in binding together the various Dutch life-science initiatives.

“Over the years, Prof Raaijmakers has been instrumental in unifying the Dutch life sciences into the powerful force that it is today, and it is very fitting that this achievement has been recognized with a royal decoration,” said Lygature Managing Director Jorg Janssen. “The positive impact of his efforts will not only be felt by the life science community, but by patients throughout the Netherlands and beyond.”
