Lygature Supports Key Discussions at International Pharmaceutical Innovation Workshop

News News

Lygature is pleased to be contributing to an upcoming international workshop titled “Developing New Models for Pharmaceutical Innovation: towards a Mixed Economy,” taking place on Monday, 15 July. The event, which aligns with our mission of Pioneering Medicine Together, aims to explore innovative pharmaceutical models that ensure broader access to medicines, with a focus on addressing areas of high unmet medical need such as tropical diseases, rare conditions, and antimicrobial resistance.

The workshop will delve into the concept of a “mixed economy of pharmaceutical innovation,” emphasizing alternative yet complementary approaches to how ‘mainstream’ medicines are developed. These ‘non-traditional’ models foster collaborative platforms and enhance public-private partnerships to drive so-called social pharmaceutical innovations (SPINs).

As co-organizer of the event, Lygature, alongside partners such as EATRIS and Future Affordable Sustainable Therapies, strongly supports this initiative. The workshop will address key policy issues that could help the sustainability of such models, including innovative funding, procurement strategies, regulatory frameworks, and collaborative dynamics between the public, non-profit, and private sectors.

The event promises engaging discussions, case study presentations, and extensive networking opportunities. Jon de Vlieger, Lygature Strategy Director, will participate as a panelist. Commenting on the workshop, he said: “It’s our strong belief that by bringing together our collective creativity in (social) science, innovation and entrepreneurship, we can make a significant contribution to shaping the future of medicines. I’m looking forward to the inspiring multi-stakeholder discussions at this event.”

If you are interested in contributing to this dialogue and helping shape future pharmaceutical innovation, make sure to register soon to book your spot. Attendance is free, but space is limited.
