Lygature’s Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium nominated for Prix Galien Bridges Award

News News

The Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium — coordinated by Lygature — was recently nominated for the 2025 Prix Galien Bridges Award in the category Best Public Sector Innovation.

The Prix Galien Awards are among the most prestigious global recognitions in life sciences, celebrating scientific excellence and groundbreaking innovation that improve human health.

The nomination acknowledges the Consortium’s pioneering work in developing a child-friendly formulation of praziquantel that will, for the first time, enable preschool-aged children to be safely and effectively treated for schistosomiasis. This parasitic disease affects more than 250 million people worldwide, with young children among the most vulnerable.

Since its creation in 2012, the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium has exemplified the strength of cross-sector collaboration. Bringing together pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, global health partners, and endemic-country experts, the Consortium is united by a shared mission to deliver an equitable, accessible solution for endemic populations.

Lygature serves as the Consortium’s neutral coordinator, supporting transparent governance, partner alignment, and efficient collaboration throughout the development pathway — from early formulation work and clinical development to access planning and implementation.
