Lygature’s Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium puts early childhood development in the spotlight on International Day of the African Child
To mark this year’s International Day of the African Child, the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium, which Lygature proudly coordinates, draws attention to the fact that schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease most commonly found in sub-Saharan Africa, poses a major child health development challenge with long-term impacts in terms of decreased quality of life.
The international partnership is working hard to reduce the global disease burden of schistosomiasis by addressing the medical needs of infected preschool-aged children – a group for which there is currently no suitable treatment option available. By doing so, the Consortium hopes to contribute to the ongoing efforts to eliminate schistosomiasis and improve child health.
The project, which falls under our Global Health portfolio, is an example of the Lygature mission to bring together public and private partners to make a meaningful contribution to alleviating disease burden.
