New milestone reached for the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium as its potential new child-friendly treatment option for schistosomiasis is validated by EMA
The Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium, which Lygature proudly coordinates, has today announced an important new milestone: the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has validated for review the application for the Consortium’s potential new treatment option for schistosomiasis in preschool-aged children (3 months to 6 years of age).
Millions of preschool-aged children affected by schistosomiasis are not receiving treatment due to the lack of a suitable medication. With this validation, a key milestone has been reached in the ongoing effort to eliminate this neglected tropical disease that affects more than 200 million people worldwide, including at least 50 million preschool-aged children.
