Ombion moves forward as Lygature concludes early-stage role
Last week, Lygature formally concluded its involvement in the initiation phase of the National Growth Fund program Ombion Centre for Animal-free Biomedical Translation, following a successful period of collaboration that helped establish a solid basis for the program’s long-term success.
Strategic support during crucial early stages
During the crucial initiation phase of Ombion, Lygature played a pivotal role by contributing expertise in program management and communication. This support helped to secure several key milestones, including:
- The formal establishment of the CPBT foundation
- The release of the grant decision ("subsidiebeschikking")
- The development and signing of the collaboration agreement
- The organization of the official launch event on 7 July in Utrecht
With this groundwork in place, Ombion is now well positioned to continue its mission of advancing animal-free biomedical innovation by integrating cutting-edge technologies, cross-sectoral collaboration, and responsible research frameworks that improve health outcomes while simultaneously reducing reliance on animal testing.
'"Helping to build Ombion from the ground up has been an exciting experience. We’re proud to have been able to support such an ambitious program in its early stages. Working alongside dedicated partners to set the tone and help to make the program operational has been a privilege. The collaboration, energy, and shared vision across all partners give us great confidence in what Ombion will accomplish next", said Tale Sliedrecht, Senior Partnership Leader at Lygature.
Proven expertise in public-private collaboration
Lygature’s involvement in Ombion follows its earlier contributions to major programs such as Oncode Accelerator, Health-RI, and PharmaNL.
Through this accumulated experience, Lygature has once again shown its value in laying the structural and strategic basis necessary for impactful biomedical innovation.
Smooth transition for future growth
With the early-phase milestones achieved, a smooth handover has taken place to the newly established foundation, ensuring the continuity and sustained development of the program. Lygature is proud to have contributed to the foundational phase of Ombion and is looking forward to the impact of this pioneering program on shaping the next generation of biomedical innovation.
