Last month, Peter Luijten was appointed chairman of the Lygature Board of Directors. He succeeds Joop Sistermans who, since 2011, has fulfilleld this role at both Lygature and Center for Translational Molecular Medicine (CTMM). Lygature was formed five years ago from the merger of CTMM and the Top Institute Pharma (TI Pharma).

To ensure the eradication of malaria, medicines need to be developed that kill parasites in all stages of life. This includes targeting the sexual stage (gametocytes) where parasites can re-infect mosquitoes and transmit the disease.

The Medicines for Malaria Venture – Product Development Partnership (MMV-PDP) is a key project under Lygature’s Global Health portfolio.

Dr James Duffy is a Director of Drug Discovery at the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), a not-for-profit product development partnership (PDP) working to reduce the burden of malaria by discovering, developing and delivering new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs.

Just eight months after enrolling its 500th patient, the MOMENTUM study team has now announced that yet another milestone has been achieved, with the 1000th patient recruited this past November.

With almost a third of all votes, the Personal Health Train has won the Computable Award for Health Care 2020, the most important ICT award in the Netherlands.
