The European Medicines Agency (EMA) will relocate to Amsterdam in March 2019.

The first steps for a collaboration between Erasmus MC, UMC Utrecht, Stichting Tubereuze Sclerosis Nederland (STSN), Stichting TSC Fonds (formerly Stichting Michelle), Novartis and Lygature are taken to set up a national Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) database. On 24 October the kick-off meeting for the preparation phase was held.

The Parelsnoer Institute (PSI) offers researchers within and outside the eight University Medical Centers an efficient infrastructure and harmonized procedures for multicenter clinical biobanks. Since the launch of PSI in 2007, 18 large cohorts in different disease areas have been initiated.

Health~Holland aims to inspire Dutch life sciences community with strategic research agenda.

In May 2017, the first meeting of the newly installed Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for the Lygature foundation was held. The SAB is tasked with advice on the scientific strategy for Lygature.

Lygature, the not-for-profit research management organization, fully supports the Dutch bid for the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The Netherlands with its very strong life sciences & health sector would be a natural fit for the European Union agency responsible for the protection of public and animal health through the scientific evaluation and supervision of medicines.

In the Netherlands alone, 9000 people die each year because of a stroke. Many more people survive a stroke but have to live with the consequences, potentially including (partial) paralysis, speech impairment, incontinence, swallowing problems, tiredness and fatigue, memory problems and emotional changes. A group of 60 investigators has now set out to make a difference.

Yesterday, July 4th, the Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences moved its offices to the Jaarbeurs Innovation Mile (JIM) located in the Beatrixbuilding of the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The mission of DTL is to establish an interconnected research infrastructure that enables cross-disciplinary life science research in national and international collaboration in a cost-effective manner.

In recent years Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) have evolved into broader coalitions. Health foundations, patient organizations and even regulatory agencies have taken an active role in PPPs. Indicators that measure the impact of such precompetitive research collaborations in the biomedical field have been developed.

The injection in three volunteers is the first official step in the human trial programme in the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and the Radboudumc in Nijmegen. This trial investigates a promising malaria vaccine, Sanaria® PfSPZ-GA1 Vaccine, manufactured by biotechnology firm Sanaria.
